BAR/BAT MITZVAH and HEBREW TUTORING
We do offer one-on-one, personalized Bar and Bat Mitzvah tutoring as well as Hebrew tutoring; there is a separate fee for this service. Please feel free to call us for more information about this program.
ISRAEL TRIP
As one of the oldest teen trips to Israel (more than 25 summer trips!), Camp Young Judaea offers a unique and memorable Israel Experience program to children completing 10th grade. Open ONLY to campers who have spent at least their 9th grade summer at CYJ, the program is a multi-faceted learning and social experience, combining touring and sightseeing with a mifgash program involving Israeli teenagers and opportunities for seminars and workshops with Israeli officials. Following the program in Israel, campers return to CYJ for a 10-day Leadership Training program. The CYJ Summer Israel Experience (popularly called the "Gadna" program), is operated in conjunction with the Israeli government's Jewish Agency for Israel.
COUNSELOR AIDE PROGRAM
Participants in our Israel Trip program are eligible to apply to our Counselor Aide program the following summer. Participants must have gone on our Israel Trip AND returned to camp for the mandatory 10-day Leadership Training program at camp and must have completed 11th grade in order to be eligible for the CA program. Counselor Aides live in the bunks with campers and are considered full staff members. During the summer, they will meet routinely with head counselors, department heads and other administrators for extra training and supervision. Since we typically have many more applicants than positions, those who are not accepted the first year are strongly encouraged to re-apply the following year.
LIFEGUARDING
Campers in our Daled group (finishing ninth grade) can choose to take the American Red Cross Lifeguarding and CPR course. Campers must be 15 years old by the time the course ends, must be full-season campers and must be wiling to devote extra time to studying and practice during the summer.
WAITERS PROGRAM
Campers from our Daled group (finishing ninth grade) are eligible to apply to our waiters program during the camper registration process in November. We choose 32 waiters from the list of applicants and they are paid at the end of the summer. It’s a demanding but fun job and a great way to earn some money during the summer.
