Camp Young Judaea, founded in 1939, serves children ages 8-15. Located on 168 acres on the shores of Lake Baboosic, our waterfront features two waterski/wakeboard power boats, canoes, kayaks, sailboats, paddleboats, and windsurfers. Camp facilities include eight tennis courts, several playing fields, basketball and volleyball courts, archery and riflery ranges, radio station, outdoor adventure course, a large modern dining room, sturdy wooden cabins, and several other spacious indoor facilities, including a gym/theater, arts and crafts studio, and rec hall. Shabbat services are held in a beautiful grove, sheltered by towering pine trees. Music, dance, drama, and Judaica are integral parts of our program.
A private, non-profit camp operated by Friends of Young Judaea, Inc., the camp now serves more than 350 children each month from a variety of Jewish backgrounds and from all over the United States, Canada, and abroad. We are the original Camp Young Judaea, but we are not affiliated with the Young Judaea movement or any other camps.
The daily program consists of a mix of mandatory and elective activities, supervised by college-aged specialty staff. Most of our staff are former campers, and we also hire counselors from Israel, England, France, Australia, and South Africa. In-camp competitions and events, bunk activities, plays, sports, Judaica seminars, Color War, music, trips, and marvelous evening programs create a dynamic, exciting atmosphere of ruach (spirit), fun, camaraderie, and learning.
